bulletLocation:  On the north slope of Grassy Ridge, between U.S. 19E and Carvers Gap; elevation 5,050 feet.  The shelter is directly on the A.T., in the Cherokee National Forest, Unaka Ranger District.
bulletConstruction: Three-sided with open front and wood floor.  Wood structure with plywood sides and asphalt shingle roof.  Built in 1977 by U.S. Forest Service.
bulletSleeps: six
bulletMaintenance history:
bullet1993: Extended roof and sides, added gutters front and rear, repaired hole in floor, reinforced floor in front.
bullet1994: Installed picnic table, painted shelter.
bullet1995: Shelter renamed from Roan Highlands Shelter to Stan Murray Shelter per suggestion of Steve Banks.  Stan Murray was a member of TEHCC, and Chairman of the Board of Managers of the Appalachian Trail Conference 1961-1975.
bulletFuture: Keep an eye on the roof.
bulletWater source: Spring is about 100 yards opposite shelter on blue-blazed side trail.
