Q: Where are some good Class I-II paddling opportunities in
our area?
A: Check out the following. Try to get a copy of
"Tennessee Streams and Rivers", available in most local
outdoors shops. And make sure you have a good map before attempting to find
them:
 | North Fork of the Holston River, between Mendota, Virginia and Kingsport, Tennessee -

 | Clinch River in Southwest Virginia, in the vicinity of U.S. 23 - Class I+ |
 | Nolichucky River below Chucky, Tennessee - Class I+ |
 | South Fork of the Holston River, below South Holston Dam near Bristol, Tennessee - Class

Q: Is it possible to paddle the Holston River below Kingsport?
A: No. The river flows through Holston Army Ammunition
Plant, and access is restricted.
