Q:    Where boat rentals are available in our area?

A:    Here are several places to check out:

Q:    Where are some good Class I-II paddling opportunities in our area?

A:    Check out the following.  Try to get a copy of "Tennessee Streams and Rivers", available in most local outdoors shops.  And make sure you have a good map before attempting to find them:

bulletNorth Fork of the Holston River, between Mendota, Virginia and Kingsport, Tennessee - Class I
bulletClinch River in Southwest Virginia, in the vicinity of U.S. 23 - Class I+
bulletNolichucky River below Chucky, Tennessee - Class I+
bulletSouth Fork of the Holston River, below South Holston Dam near Bristol, Tennessee - Class I-II
bulletWatauga River below Little Wilbur Dam, near Elizabethton, Tennessee - Class II

Q:    Is it possible to paddle the Holston River below Kingsport?

A:    No.  The river flows through Holston Army Ammunition Plant, and access is restricted.
