Laurel Fork Shelter

bulletLocation: In Laurel Fork Gorge, between U.S. 321 and Dennis Cove Road; elevation 2,400 feet.  The shelter is 300 feet uphill off the A.T. on a blue-blazed side trail.  In the Cherokee National Forest, Unaka Ranger District, Pond Mountain Wilderness Area.
bulletConstruction: Three-sided with open front and wooden sleeping platform.  Native stone structure.   Built in 1966 by TEHCC.

bulletMaintenance history:
bullet1994: Installed picnic table.
bulletFuture: Roof replacement and rafter work needed.
bulletWater source: Stream is located 150 feet on blue-blazed trail behind the shelter.
