 | Location: On the north slope of Hump Mountain, between U.S. 19E and Carvers Gap;
elevation 3,000 feet. The shelter is directly on the A.T. In the Cherokee
National Forest, Unaka Ranger District. |
 | Construction: Three-sided with open front and wood floor. Wood structure first
constructed in 1952 to store explosives for the quarry in the hollow and tools for the
nearby orchard. Rebuilt in 1984 by TEHCC and U.S. Forest Service. |
 | Sleeps: five |
 | Maintenance history:
 | 1993: Replaced boards, added steps, improved foundation, and repaired hole in floor.
Picnic table not installed due to proximity to U.S. 19E. |
 | 1995: Installed new siding. |
